Hulen Street Church began in 1959 as Sunset Heights Baptist Church, a church plant by Connell Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX. The people of Connell Baptist noticed a growing community in Fort Worth and saw the potential for more people to know the love of God.
Sunset Heights Baptist Church came to life through a series of tent meetings, where people became disciples of Jesus and became family with one another. The church eventually changed its name to Hulen Street Baptist Church to reflect its immediate location.

10. First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth
The First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth began in 1874 with the completion of its first building, a one-room structure at Fourth and Jones Street in downtown Fort Worth. It became known as the Fourth Street Methodist Church.
In 1887, the church moved the original frame building to the rear of the lot to make room for a new brick structure. First Methodist Church became its official name in 1890.
Since the completion of the current facility at 5th and Henderson, the church has continued to expand, renovate and acquire properties, including the Lyle Lodge at Eagle Mountain Lake, the Foundation Building, the expansion of the Children’s Building and the First Street Methodist Mission building in West 1st Street.
