It is such a beautiful church with so much history. The architecture and workmanship are beautiful. The parishioners are friendly and welcoming. The pastors’ teaching was based on the Bible. He connected the word of God with the people and was easy to understand. The First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio is the oldest Protestant church in the city, founded by the Reverend John McCullough in 1846.
The sanctuary was built more than 120 years ago and designed by Atlee B Ayres, who also did architectural work for the Texas State Capitol building, among other things. The stained glass window at the back of this sanctuary is unique and was created by Tiffany Studios in New York. The design shows the ascension of Christ to heaven, making it more spiritual.
