2. St. Mary’s Catholic Center
As the only Catholic parish in College Station, St. Mary’s offered programs for members of the university community and their families, as well as the College Station community at large. Under the direction of Father Al Palermo and Father Bill Brooks, there were coffees, dinners with the priests and the Newman Club.
The Newman Club met every Wednesday night, beginning with a Newman Mass in the student center. After Mass, students gathered to discuss future activities and projects and to enjoy fellowship during their social hour. The chapel and student center were full of life under the watchful eye of these priests and helped the center grow to accommodate the thousands of Catholic students attending the university, as well as Catholic families within the community. from College Station.
In 1982, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish was founded on the south side of the city to serve this growing Catholic population with the mission of serving families. St. Mary Parish no longer had the sole responsibility of serving the needs of the entire Catholic community in Aggie and, so the student center located on the corner of Church and Nagle streets shifted its focus to address the needs of the students. All religious education for the children was moved to the new parish. As St. Thomas Aquinas Parish grew in south College Station, the St. Mary’s community became even more focused on quality student ministry at Texas A&M.

3. Grace Bible Church: Anderson Campus
Grace Bible Church grew steadily to more than 2,500 people attending any Sunday during the school year.
Our expanding church has continually necessitated the need to add staff to handle continued growth. We have added several pastors, directors and other staff and interns over the years. As a lack of space for worship and ministry continued to present growth problems at 700 Anderson, elders and pastors proposed a multi-site growth strategy to the congregation in May 2007, which was approved. Later that year, Grace purchased a former church property at 1901 Harvey Mitchell Parkway. The newly renovated Southwood Campus of Grace Bible Church opened its doors for worship services in August 2008. There is great hope that the multi-site strategy will allow us to continue to ‘grow as we get smaller.’
Throughout its history, Grace has continued its strategic mission of reaching students and staff at Texas A&M University, as well as families and others in the church and surrounding communities. It is the strong desire of the church leadership that Grace Bible Church be not merely active or busy, but fruitful. Consequently, we continue to revitalize our strategies to minister effectively according to the purposes God has given us.

4. A&M United Methodist Church
Although the United Methodist Church was officially created in 1968, its history dates back to 1730, when John and Charles Wesley, two students at the University of Oxford in England, gathered a small group of students seeking to spread the Methodist movement.
Around the same time, people like Philip William Otterbein, a German-American clergyman, and Martin Boehm, a Mennonite preacher, were leading similar movements in the United States that helped people grow their faith through the United Brethren Church. in Christ.
Over the decades, both movements spread and grew, often merging to form new denominations. In 1968, both strands of Christianity came together to form the United Methodist Church.
In this section, you will find useful stories and links to help you learn more about the roots of our denomination and trace the developments that led us to today.

5. Brazos Fellowship
February 13, 2005:
The word spread and the circle grew; A dedicated team of about 30 people worked together to launch the Brazos Fellowship about 10 weeks later. The first public service was held at College Station High School on Rock Prairie Road. From the beginning God’s call was confirmed, as growing attendance required us to add a second Sunday service, which was held on September 18, 2005.
November 5, 2006:
This young ecclesial community was ready for its own space. We started the new year praying for a building and were soon able to purchase the former Times Square nightclub at 226 Southwest Parkway. After finalizing the paperwork and beginning renovations on August 1, we held our first service in the new space in November, just 18 months since our launch!
August 2018:
Spurred on by more people finding a better life at Brazos Fellowship, another addition to the main campus was completed. This included a balcony in the main auditorium (while Sunday services continue) and a 4-story addition allowing more space for children (nursery and elementary school), plus offices and meeting spaces.
February 2020:
As we celebrate 15 years as a church, we look at how God has blessed the vision of Brazos Fellowship from the beginnings in Will’s living room to over 1,500 adults interacting with us each weekend.
Brazos Fellowship continues to fulfill its mission of leading people into a growing relationship with Christ, as evidenced by our continued growth.

7. Living Hope Baptist Church
In 1996, a group of believers from the First Baptist Church of College Station began praying for a new church in the south part of the city. Butch Smith became our first pastor in February 1998.
Living Hope continued to have the vision of starting new churches. As a result, in 2009 we helped plant Living Hope Bryan and New Life Baptist Church in College Station. Although we are three independent churches, we remain united in our desire to tell others about Jesus and see the Gospel reach from Bryan-College Station to the ends of the earth.
In July 2018, Alan Pittman was called as our second pastor. He is leading us to continue developing strategies that will allow us to truly be a church family living our mission to “Be a Disciple… Make Disciples… Be the Church… For the Glory of God.”
